A computer is one of the most important technological inventions to society. In the 1960’s the main use of computers was for government and army purposes. They would use it for decrypting enemy messages, or calculating trajectories of ballistic missiles. But now we can use computers for communication, resources, and for jobs. Using computers was very complicated then but slowly began to evolve.
The computer has several different online applications that allow you communicate with other people. For example, Microsoft outlook, AOL instant messenger, Myspace, Facebook, Xanga, blogs and more. These are convenient to today’s society because technology is becoming more advanced and this is the way most people communicate. E-mail is very popular and used by almost everyone. E-mail is very efficient that you can talk to anyone that is anywhere and if you send it at a time not convenient to them they can always check it later. Also you can send the same E-mail to more than one person at a time and it is cheaper than spending a ton of money on stamps. On the other hand you have blogs and sites that you can make to communicate such as myspace and facebook. You can chat share pictures message and comment people. With this, you can post blogs and other things that people could use for resources.
Resources are something that everyone needs. If you are writing an essay for something you would need resources right? Well computers makes resources easy. There are many different online resources that are really easy to use such as google, yahoo, ask jeeves, aol answers, babel fish, wikipedia and more. You can search for anything whether it has to do with the weather and traffic to learning how to cook. Yeah you could go to the library to learn to cook but why waste your gas, and yeah you could turn your television on to check the weather but there are a lot of commercials and other television programs that might be on. Computers are owned everywhere and a lot of people rely on them.
Computers are one of the best inventions and are highly efficient for certain jobs that need data to be kept, visual basic, maps, and more. More and more companies are investing in computers for their business because they have so many capabilities that are beneficial to their specific job. This is good because if you keep a lot of records you have have them safely locked on the computer where no one can get to them but you and your company. Also, you don’t have to waste a whole bunch of paper so it will be beneficial to the environment too. Not only are computers used for data keeping but stores all around the world have computers. This makes the process of adding and subtracting numbers easier and much faster.
Even though computers were invented awhile back, they are growing and becoming more efficient for the future. Great things have already came from computers, think what is still to come. Computers are predicted to become more intelligent than humans. Most people argue that there is no need or reason that computers or machines should be more intelligent than humans. Computers are a much simpler than life and the do not have the instincts we have. People discuss the advantages of computers and think they are more obvious each time. They say that computers take a second to load a program and it takes years to educate humans. Also, when computers get old and worn out, their information can be transferred to another computer but when humans get old they die and all knowledge they have is gone. “Many thousands of years in the future there might be competition for power between computers and life, which will win”(http://www.historyoftheuniverse.com/futucomp.html)?
